Prime Minister Hun Manet responded to social media commentator Sok Sokun, also known as James Sok, who criticised the new government for focusing only on minor achievements and claimed that some ministers had been inactive for over a year after taking office.

Mr Hun Manet made these remarks during the inauguration of the 12,645-meter-long Techo Santepheap Road on Angkol Beach in Kep Province yesterday. He emphasised that Sok’s criticisms did not accurately reflect the government’s efforts. If the government had truly done nothing, Mr Hun Manet questioned, how could they have inaugurated achievements that contribute to the country’s development and meet the needs of the people.

He pointed out that since the new government took office, Sok had launched a series of attacks, targeting various ministries such as the Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Commerce, and Ministry of Public Works. The Prime Minister dismissed these critiques as misguided, suggesting that Sok’s views were based on incomplete information from abroad.

“His conclusions are completely untrue,” Mr Hun Manet said.

Mr Hun Manet expressed his openness to constructive analysis but called for such critic to be based on scientific reasoning, not sensationalism.

He urged Sok to visit Cambodia and witness the ongoing development for himself.

“He should gather clear information for his analysis, speak directly with the ministers he criticises, and understand their work over the past year,” he said.

Mr Hun Manet emphasised that his response to Sok’s criticism was to defend the integrity of government officials and ministries that have been actively working to implement the government’s policies.
